Giving information in this regard, playwright Sanjeevan Singh, president of Sarghi Kala Kendra, said that flood-affected farm laborers and other sections will be helped on priority. He said that in addition to about four lakh of our elderly, mothers, siblings, children from about two thousand villages, thousands of animals have been deprived of food and drink, shelter, health facilities and other basic necessities of life. Agriculture and cattle are also in serious crisis.
He said that it is the nature of Punjabis to stand as a shield for Punjab in natural and unnatural calamities like floods without waiting for government help, but it is also necessary to ensure that relief materials reach the needy. It has also come to light that many people are busy pretending to be fake flood victims and filling their houses.
He said that social worker Ashok Bajheri has been made the convener of the coordination committee. Among the other office bearers, Sanjeevan Singh and Kulwant Diwan have been made co-conveners, Jaspreet Kaur has been made secretary and Narinder Nasreen has been made finance secretary.
Jaspal Singh from Turkey has taken the responsibility of communicating with Indians living abroad and Prashotam Bhagat, Gurvinder Baidwan, Gunjandeep Kaur, Gurman Kaur, Vicky Martya will coordinate the relief work.
