Special workshop organized under Mission Shakti Abhiyan, women given information about safety and legal rights

Una, September 9- A special workshop was organized in the conference room of Zila Parishad Una on Tuesday as part of the special awareness program being run till September 12 under Mission Shakti Abhiyan. The program was chaired by Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Una and Senior Civil Judge Anita Sharma. On this occasion, she provided detailed information to the participants about the rights of women and children, legal provisions and available support services.

On this occasion, she provided detailed information to the participants about the rights of women and children, legal provisions and available support services.
Important topics like POCSO Act, legal awareness, safety of women at workplace (POSH Act and She Box) and free legal aid services were discussed in the workshop.
Anita Sharma said that the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) aims to provide safe, respectful and discrimination-free working environment to women. She said that it is mandatory to constitute an internal complaint committee in institutions with 10 or more employees and a local complaint committee for small institutions.
Giving information about the Sexual Harassment Electronic Box, he said that it is an online complaint system launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, in which working women can register their complaints related to sexual harassment and can also check its status online.
Apart from this, he gave information about free legal aid services, which are available for the weaker sections of the society like women, children, Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Divyangjan, industrial workers, low income group, prisoners and victims of human trafficking.
He informed that the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has started toll-free helpline 15100, through which eligible persons can directly get legal advice and assistance.

*A strong initiative towards women empowerment*
On this occasion, District Program Officer Una Narendra Kumar shared information about Mission Shakti Yojana. He said that Mission Shakti Yojana is a strong initiative towards women empowerment. It is a mission mode scheme of the Central Government, which aims to ensure the safety, security and empowerment of women and girls.
He informed that Mission Shakti has two sub-schemes Sambal, under which schemes like One Stop Centre, Women Helpline, and Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao come. Also, Samarthya which focuses on social and economic empowerment of women.
During this, information was also given about the free government helpline numbers available for women and children, which include Women Power Line 1090, Women Helpline 181, Chief Minister Helpline 1100, Police Emergency Service 112, Ambulance Service 108, Child Helpline 1098, Health Service 102.
On this occasion, District Welfare Officer Awas Pandit, District Language Officer Nikku Ram, officers and employees of various departments, Anganwadi supervisors and workers were present.
