Chandigarh- The by-election for the vacant seat in the Rajya Sabha for Punjab's share will be held on October 24. The Election Commission of India has released the schedule for this today.
According to the schedule released by the Commission, the notification for the by-election will be formally issued on October 6. The last date for filing nominations will be October 13. After this, the scrutiny of nominations will be on October 14 and the return will be on October 16.
Voting for the Rajya Sabha seat will be held on October 24 from 9 am to 4 pm and the results will be declared in the evening of the same day. It is noteworthy that Sanjeev Arora had resigned as a Rajya Sabha member after winning the by-election for the Ludhiana West assembly constituency.
