Addressing a rally of the Trinamool Congress student wing in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee claimed that the BJP has deployed more than 500 teams from across the country in West Bengal to conduct a survey with the intention of removing the names of voters from the voter lists.
She said, "You should check yourself whether your name is now in the voter list or has it been removed from the voter list. You have to make sure that you have an Aadhaar card.''
Mamata Banerjee said, ''I will not let anyone take away the right of people to vote as long as I am alive.'' She alleged that the Election Commission is threatening the state government officials. Banerjee claimed, ''The Election Commission is threatening our officials. Its jurisdiction is only for three months during elections, not the entire year.''
She also alleged that the BJP is trying to forget the contribution made by Bengalis in the freedom struggle. Mamata Banerjee said, ''If Bengali is not the language, then in which language are the national anthem and national song written? They want us to forget the role played by Bengalis in the freedom struggle. We will not tolerate this linguistic terrorism.''
