
No intimidation or interference in liquor shop auction will be tolerated - Dr. Sumita Mishra.
Chandigarh, June 24 - Haryana Home Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Sumita Mishra today appealed to all prospective bidders to participate in the upcoming liquor shop auction without any fear, and assured them of full administrative support and security.

Dr. Mishra said, the government stands firmly behind law-abiding bidders. No one should be afraid or discouraged from participating in a valid government process. We will ensure full security to every participant.
Dr. Mishra made these remarks while chairing a law and order review meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs) and District Excise and Taxation Commissioners (DETCs) of Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Jind, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal and Ambala districts. He made it clear that the state government would not tolerate any kind of intimidation or interference in the upcoming auction. Taking serious note of reports indicating possible collusion between local miscreants and anti-social elements to intimidate the participants, Dr. Mishra directed the police and intelligence agencies to immediately identify such persons. He directed the district intelligence units to prepare detailed profiles of habitual offenders and keep a constant vigil on their activities to enhance security. The police have been asked to keep a close watch on suspicious movement or gathering of people or vehicles.
The Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, directed the DCs and SPs of the respective districts to interact directly with the prospective bidders to instill confidence among them. He said that these meetings would act as a platform to address security concerns and assure the participants of the government’s unwavering support. He stressed that the Deputy Commissioners and SPs should actively reach out to the bidders and listen to their concerns and assure them that strong law and order is in place.
Dr. Mishra said that no one would be allowed to derail the government’s auction process of liquor vends. He reiterated the state government’s zero-tolerance policy and warned that any laxity on the part of the local administration or the police would be taken seriously. There can be no compromise on the integrity of the auction process. If any officer is found negligent or in collusion, strict departmental action will be taken against him.
He also stressed on the importance of video surveillance, deployment of more police force in sensitive areas and close coordination with the officers of the Excise Department to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the auction.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner and Secretary of the Excise and Taxation Department, Mrs. Ashima Brar, Commissioner of Excise and Taxation, Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, ADGP/Law and Order, Mr. Sanjay Kumar and other senior officers.
