PGIMER Launches Preventive Clinic in Cardiology OPD to Promote Heart Health

On November 2, 2024, the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) inaugurated a Preventive Clinic within its Cardiology OPD Complex, aimed at enhancing heart health through preventive care. This initiative targets health-conscious adults eager to reduce their heart disease risk.

This initiative targets health-conscious adults eager to reduce their heart disease risk.
During the launch, PGIMER Director Prof. Vivek Lal emphasized the importance of preventive measures, sharing his personal health journey. He encouraged a focus on weight management, physical activity, and yoga as key to preventing lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Neelam, the clinic's Associate Professor, outlined its services, which include comprehensive evaluations of diet, psychological factors, and physical activity, followed by personalized advice. The clinic will operate every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.
Dr. Krishan from the Psychiatry Department stressed the clinic’s focus on the mental health-heart disease link, noting that addressing psychological challenges is vital. Chief Dietician Dr. Nancy Sahni highlighted the importance of diet in heart health, promising personalized nutrition plans.
To promote awareness, patients and caregivers will receive an informational booklet on heart disease prevention, reinforcing PGIMER’s holistic approach to heart health.
