Patiala, April 17 – Farmers agitating at Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana today started a dharna on the railway track at Shambhu railway station. The police tried to stop them, which led to a clash between the police and the farmers, but the farmers broke the barricade and sat on the track. Farmers are demanding the release of 3 farmers including youth leader Navdeep Singh Jalbeda from the government.

In this regard, earlier they had a meeting with the Haryana and Punjab governments, after which they were assured of their release. After which the farmers had given time till April 16 to the government. When the government did not release them, they came down on the track. 34 trains have been affected due to farmers' strike. There is also news of cancellation of 11 trains and rerouting of many. At the same time, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has said that the central government has forced the track to be jammed
He said that this sit-in will continue till farmer leader Navdeep Singh Jalbeda and others are released. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has also expressed similar views.
