Una, November 20 - Una district administration has changed the eligibility conditions to make its special initiative Samarthya program more effective and to extend its benefits to more people. Under these changes, the income limit and other conditions have been revised for greater benefit of the people. Now, the family income limit for availing the benefits of this program has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. Apart from this, earlier the benefit of the program could be availed if the applicant's father died or if he was 70 percent disabled. The disability condition has now been reduced from 70 to 60 percent.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that the district administration Una has aimed to empower youth, women and various sections of the society and promote community development through the Samarthya program. Under this program, children of poor families are given financial assistance for higher education, preparation for competitive examinations and other important matters. Along with this, women are also given self-defense training. So far, 35 children from poor families in the district have been given financial assistance under this program, including 34 girls and one boy, who have been provided help to prepare for the Army test.
Earlier, the eligibility conditions for the benefits of the program were that the beneficiary's father should have passed away or the father should be more than 70 percent physically disabled, and the family's annual income should not exceed Rs 50 thousand. Now these conditions have been changed and the family income limit has been increased to Rs 60 thousand and the applicant is eligible for the benefit on the death of the father, but at the same time, the condition of disability percentage in cases of disability has been reduced from 70 to 60 percent, so that more people can take advantage of this program.
