Being a talented artist, he started his film career in 1979. He worked in about 300 Hindi and Punjabi films. At that time he got a chance to work with famous Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar. Acting in famous films like Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Aunty Number Ban, Zanjeer, Yaarana, Ailaan, Shiva Ka Insaaf and Kasam earned him the status of co-star. Along with Hindi films, he also proved to be a successful actor as a hero in Punjabi films.
