Lohri festival is a symbol of ancient traditions and culture: Kuljit Singh Bedi

SAS Nagar, January 13 – The Gyan Jyoti family, which has entered its 50th year of establishment, celebrated its first 50th anniversary with grandeur at Gyanjyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Phase 2. On this occasion, Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi participated as the chief guest while ward number one councilor Jaspreet Kaur and senior leader Raja Kanwarjot Singh Mohali participated as special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, S. Kuljit Singh Bedi said that the festival of Lohri is a symbol of our ancient tradition and culture and this festival is celebrated in different names and in different ways across the country. He said that it is a good thing that now people also celebrate the Lohri of girls with full pomp and following the path of the hero of the Lohri festival, Dula Bhatti, they are giving equal space to girls.

On this occasion, the chief guest and special guests along with the management started the program formally by lighting incense. A colorful cultural program was also presented by the students and staff on this occasion. Lohri songs were sung by the students and staff by putting sesame seeds, peanuts and gacchak etc. in the Lohri dhuni. Students also performed gidha, bhangra and skits etc.
