Nawanshahr - Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, under the able leadership of Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa IAS, with the support of Executive Engineer Water Supply and Sanitation and all the BDPOs of the district, the status of ODF + Aspiring (100 percent) has been achieved. Informing about this, Additional Deputy Commissioner (P.V.), Sagar Setia IAS said that ODF + Aspiring which was 50 percent in the month of December 2023, has been achieved 100 percent by the month of February 2024, which is a It is a big achievement. He said that our next target is to make the district a model district by implementing solid waste management and liquid waste management projects in all the villages of the district.
   The Additional Deputy Commissioner (AD) said that 11 villages of the district have already achieved the status of model villages and various works are going on in the remaining villages which will be completed soon. He further informed that in the villages where the solid waste management projects have been completed, the representatives of the department are giving information to the gram panchayats and the people of the village at the block level to run them. For this purpose, tie-up has also been done with NGO's for IEC Activities. They have started awareness in the villages.
   Apart from this, Additional Deputy Commissioner (P.V.), Sagar Setia IAS told that efforts are being made to make the villages of the district plastic free. Under which the first block level plastic waste management project in Block Aur has been prepared and soon it will start working. In this way, these projects will be established in other blocks as well. Under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, all efforts are being made with the support of other related departments to make the villages of the district clean and maintain this condition. He appealed to the common people to fully support the district administration in this effort.
