ADC said that a large number of devotees from the state of Punjab come in trucks, tractors-trolleys and trolleys to attend the Baba Badbhag Singh Mela, due to which they face problems at the border barriers. Because during the fair period, movement of all these goods carriers is prohibited beyond the interstate barriers. Mahendra Pal Gurjar urged for setting up a joint barrier in the border area so that there can be a complete ban on the pilgrims coming through goods carriers. He asked Punjab Roadways and Pepsu Road Transport to release the bus time table and share it with HRTC officials of Una district and the fair committee.
He said that the devotees coming in goods vehicles will not be allowed to move further within the border of Una district, for which adequate police force will be deployed at the inter-state barrier. ADC urged Punjab officials to make the devotees coming from Punjab aware to use only buses to go to Medi Mela. Avoid traveling by goods carriers to avoid any untoward incident and ensure to convey such message in your respective jurisdictions also.
On this occasion, AC Varinder Sharma, ASP Surendra Sharma, SDM Nangal Gurmeet Singh, Rajpal Hudal from Rupnagar and administrative officers from Hoshiarpur were present in the virtual meeting.
