
Prem Kumar Sahil honored with 'Uttrakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman'
Hoshiarpur - The Uttarakhand government awards 'Uttrakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman' every year in the name of Prof. Puran Singh in exchange for creating literature in Punjabi language. This honor includes a sum of one lakh rupees, a certificate, a shawl and a momento. Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Komal Mittal said that it is a matter of pride for our Hoshiarpur residents that this time the Uttarakhand Sahitya Gaurav Samman has gone to Prem Kumar Sahil, a resident of Skruli village of Hoshiarpur. The district administration bows down and congratulates Prem Kumar Sahil for this honour.

Giving information in this regard, District Language Officer Dr. Jaswant Roy said that Prem Kumar Sahil has retired as a principal associated with the field of teaching in Dehradun, but is active as a poet. Sahil's pen has so far translated seven collections of poetry in Punjabi, four in Hindi and one Sahitya Akademi winning poetry book by renowned Hindi poet Leeladhar Jaguri in Punjabi. Apart from these books, Sahil's poems are published in Punjabi and Hindi magazines as well as newspapers. Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur honored Prem Kumar Sahil with a certificate from the language department and a book by Sheikh Saadi, written eight centuries ago and translated into languages all over the world, to Prem Kumar Sahil in exchange for brightening the name of the district in the field of literature. Sahil's younger brother Paramjit Singh, Lovepreet, Lal Singh and Pushpa Rani were also present on this occasion.
