The Administrator, UT Chandigarh, highlighted the landmark achievements of UT Chandigarh. He apprised that UT Chandigarh has been conferred with First Prize in the State Energy Efficiency Performance Award 2023 (Group-4), presented by the Hon’ble President of India on 14th December, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi; Chandigarh awarded 1 st Rank in the country in school education vide State Performance Grading Index 20 viz-à-viz learning outcomes and quality and infrastructure &facility as assessed by Ministry of Education, GoI; UT Chandigarh moved from 66th Rank in Swacch Sarvekshan 2021 to 11th in 2023; Chandigarh awarded Safaimitra Surakshit Shehar of the nation, in Swacch Sarvekshan 2023; Chandigarh ranked 1st among all UTs on PRAGATI dashboard of CCTNS; Chandigarh ranked 2nd among all states/UTs in police pillar of ICJS, announced at ‘5th Conference on Good Practices’, organized by NCRB.
He further added that U.T Chandigarh is successfully implementing 79 Flagship schemes out of which 69 schemes are ongoing and saturated, 10 are likely to reach their saturation by March, 2024.
Also, recently, Chandigarh hosted G-20 summit meetings, GST Council meeting and Indian Air Force Show.

Sh. Purohit continued to throw light on different aspects like UT Chandigarh’s Budget, Chandigarh – the Clean and Green City, Education, Health sector, Policing, e-governance, infrastructure developments, other major achievements and appointments made during the last 5 years. The Administrator UT briefed the Chandigarh Administration has secured an increased budget allocation consecutively for last three years and fully utilized the funds. Chandigarh Administration has witnessed an increase in budget allocation by 0.94%, 3.79%, 13.08% and 7.01% in 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25 respectively. Rs.3115.76 Cr.(47.83%) of the total budget outlay of UT Chandigarh is allocated for social sector.
Regarding implementation of flagship schemes, Sh.Purohit said that in line with vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister in making Union Territory a role model of development and good governance; U.T Chandigarh is successfully implementing 79 Flagship schemes out of which 69 schemes are ongoing and saturated, 10 are likely to reach their saturation by March, 2024 under the guiding principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas". However, apart from improving the socio- economic status of its citizens, Chandigarh is working upon making it as Clean, Green and Smart city.

Sh.Purohit shared that total 2059 Appointment made as per the details including 370 Clerks in Department of Personnel, UT, Chandigarh; 48 Steno Typist in Department of Personnel, UT, Chandigarh; 700 posts of Constable (Executive) in Chandigarh Police; 49 posts of ASI in Chandigarh Police; 45 Constables in Police department selected on the basis of sports quota, for the first time in UT Chandigarh;
37 Band Constables; 38 posts of Sub Divisional Engineers/ Junior Engineers in Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB); 46 posts of Clerks at the Chandigarh Housing Board; 29 Posts of Junior Auditors at the Local Audit Department; 184 Conductors in Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU); 134 Sub Divisional Engineers/ Junior Engineers/ Assistant Line men/ Clerks/Multi tasking Staff in Engineering Department; 270 Firemen, 36 Clerks, 30 Drivers, 43 other categories including SDO, JE, Draftsmen, Data Entry Operator in Municipal Corporation. Recruitment for 1528 posts in various departments is under process.
