Patiala, January 30 - On the occasion of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi's Sacrifice Day, to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the country's freedom struggle, the Assistant Commissioner at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial at Rajindra Lake on Mall Road here today. A tribute ceremony was held under the leadership of Ravinder Singh.
On this occasion, the armed squad of the police paid homage to the martyrs by turning their weapons and two minutes of silence was observed. Assistant Commissioner Ravinder Singh paid tribute to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters, he said that today's Martyrdom Day is a very important day, because on this day the entire country pays homage to those who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle.
The Assistant Commissioner (J) said that Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom struggle with the support of non-violence and non-violence movement and he gave his sacrifice to maintain secularism, unity, peace, integrity and freedom of the country. Ravinder Singh said that we should contribute to fulfill the concept given by them of non-violence, cleanliness, peace and mutual brotherhood. On the occasion of the ceremony, District Public Relations Officer Hakam Thapar, Horticulture Development Officer Simranjit Kaur, Deputy Commissioner Office staff and other dignitaries were also present.
