Social discrimination should not be done with leprosy patients ie: Civil Surgeon

Patiala, January 30 - On the occasion of Anti-Leprosy Day for Awareness and Eradication of Leprosy, students of Nursing School, Mata Kushalia Hospital, Patiala, were asked to help the patients with leprosy symptoms and not discriminate against them in any way. And an oath of non-discrimination was taken. After taking a pledge to make India leprosy free today on Mahatma Gandhi's Sacrifice Day, Civil Surgeon Dr. Raminder Kaur said that leprosy is a skin disease caused by a special bacterium Lepra bacilli.

Leprosy usually starts with a scar or spot on the skin, the scarred area is numb, which is not felt when touched, it can be anywhere on the body. If such changes are seen on the skin, contact the doctor of the nearest health institution. He said that by getting proper treatment of this disease at the right time, the disfigurement and disability of the body parts can be avoided. This disease is treated absolutely free through multi drug therapy in all government hospitals, health centers and government dispensaries, and does not spread to other persons. He asked the group of health workers to help treat patients with symptoms of leprosy, not to show any kind of discrimination and social discrimination. On this occasion, views were also presented by Leprosy Supervisor Kuldeep Kaur And Deputy Mass Media Officer Bhag Singh Officer asked all the attendees to make as many people aware about leprosy as possible during the fortnight.
