Hoshiarpur - Under the "Anemia Free India" program, a campaign has been launched by the district administration and the health department to eliminate anemia among girls. A function in this regard was organized today at Government Senior Secondary School Railway Mandi under the chairmanship of Principal Lalita Arora. In which Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Mrs. Komal Mittal ji attended as the chief guest and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana as a special guest.

A function in this regard was organized today at Government Senior Secondary School Railway Mandi under the chairmanship of Principal Lalita Arora. In which Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Mrs. Komal Mittal ji attended as the chief guest and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana as a special guest. In this event conducted under the leadership of District Immunization Officer Dr. Seema Garg, 52 female students of the school were given Iron. Tablets were distributed. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal said that to eliminate anemia, it is necessary to make adolescent girls free from anemia from today. Keeping this in mind, after identifying anemic girls, they will be given three months. Iron tablets are being given to get rid of anemia for up to 2018. He asked the girl students to give preference to iron rich foods in their food along with this medicine. He specially thanked the representatives of Hans Foundation present in this event. While doing so, he expressed his gratitude for the iron tablets given by him to make this campaign a success. Dr. Balwinder Kumar Damana while addressing the students said that they should include green vegetables and seasonal fruits in their meals. Green leafy vegetables that cure anemia Seasonal fruits and vegetables serve to fulfill other essential elements of the body.
Sharing the information, Dr. Seema Garg said that this campaign has been started by the district administration and health department to get rid of anemia. According to this, iron tablets are being given to the girls in the age group of 10 to 19 years after Hb test and their Hb is found between 8 to 10 grams and after 3 months their Hb will be re-tested.
Besides SMO Chakowal Dr Baldev Singh Deputy Mass Media Officer Tripta Devi, Dr Mandeep Kaur AMO RBSK, District Program Manager Mohammad Asif, District BCC Coordinator Amandeep Singh, Staff Nurse Renu and Program Manager Harish Pandey from Hans Foundation, Project Manager Harish Kukreti, Project Coordinator Om Raj and the entire staff of the school were also present.
