SAS Nagar, May 13- Bharatiya Janata Party Central Committee member Bibi Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, calling it a positive step towards peace in the region.
In a statement issued here, she said border peace is in the interest of both countries, especially the people of Punjab, which shares a 553-km border with Pakistan. Stability in these areas is not just a matter of diplomacy but is essential for the prosperity and security of our border communities.
At the same time, she said national security cannot be compromised. She said India has always stood for peaceful dialogue but terrorism and cross-border infiltration cannot be tolerated. Peace cannot come at the cost of our national security.
She said if the peace process has to continue, Pakistan must take concrete steps to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure on its soil.
