Garhshankar, July 12 - Rudra Abhishek has special significance among the devotees of Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan. Regarding the ongoing preparations for organizing "Rudra Abhishek Mahayagya" programs in the coming days in Garhshankar city and the entire region, the organizers of the program today had a special meeting with Mahant Yogesh Kumar, M.A., B.Ed. Sanskrit, Peethadheeshwar of Nagar Devta Tap Sthan Baba Maheshana located in Garhshankar.
Many views were shared during this meeting. Mahant Yogesh Kumar said on this occasion that the devotional feeling among Shiva devotees is at its peak in the month of Sawan. To celebrate this holy and sacred month, Shiva devotees perform Abhishek of Shivlinga installed in Shiva temples of their respective cities with Ganga water brought from various pilgrimage sites.
He said that it is believed that Lord Shiva came to his in-laws' house for the first time in the month of Sawan where he was given a grand welcome and was honored by performing Jalabhishek. According to this tradition, every year in the month of Sawan, Shiva devotees go to their in-laws' house and maintain the order of the entire universe. He said that most of the Shiva devotees go to any one of the 12 Jyoti Lingas and perform Rudrabhishek which is extremely beneficial.
He said that those devotees who cannot reach the Jyoti Linga can get the blessings of Lord Shiva by performing Rudrabhishek with devotion at their home or in the nearest Shiva temple. Expressing happiness over the preparations of Rudrabhishek Mahayagna on a large scale in various villages of Garhshankar area, he said that Lord Shankar himself will make such a program being held for the first time in his area a success. All devotees must give their due contribution in this effort.
During this, Pankaj Shauri, Johnny Arora, Pandit Ravinder Gautam, Rajinder Prasad Khurmi were specially present from the managing committee. Sonu Mahant and other sevadars from Maheshiana Temple Management Committee were also present with him.
