Patiala, December 28 - The strike by security guards, masalchi, cooks and lift operators of Punjabi University has entered its tenth day today, but the top officials of the university and the state government have not given them a hand so far.
Condemning the attitude of the university administration and the government, Arvinder Singh Baba, the leader of the striking employees, said that 213 security guards, 14 masalchi-cooks and 3 lift operators have completed the service of the stipulated time. But they are not being brought to the next channel. They have been demanding for a long time that contract employees should be given daily wages, daily wages should be fixed and those with fixed wages should be made on ad hoc basis. But due to the lice not slipping on anyone's ears, the movement had to be given way. He said that despite the bitter cold, the protest by the employees is continuing and will continue until their rightful demands are met.
