SAS Nagar, December 5 - Labor Union of Freudenberg Nook Private Limited Village Basma staged a dharna outside the office of Labor Commissioner Punjab at Local Phase 10 and protested against the Punjab Government, Labor Department and the company management. Slogans were raised.

Mr. Vinod Chugh, Vice President of Punjab ATC, who arrived specially on this occasion, said that workers who have been working on machines for a long time in Freudenberg Knock Private Limited village Basma (where a vehicle oil seal is made) have been removed from the contractors by the management. The work is shown to be carried out, while all the work is done by the laborers in the regular way (on machines). He said that the company management is working contrary to the license obtained from the labor department and in this regard the union complained to the Labor Commissioner Punjab two years ago (on 21-11-2021) and formed a contractor advisory board to terminate the contractual system. The demand was made but no action was taken by the labor department.

They alleged that the officials of the labor department met with the company management and that labor laws were not being followed in the company. He said that in this regard, the union has met the officers of the labor department personally many times. But despite this, nothing happened.

He said that management discriminates between casual and permanent workers in the company and the union of casual workers is being broken. Despite the union giving several complaints against the company management to the labor department, no action is taken due to which there is a lot of anger among the workers. He alleged that instead of taking action against the company management, the officials posted in the labor department are exploiting the workers. At the time of registering the workers' union, the workers were harassed by the official and even now the officials are meeting with the company management.

On this occasion, Union President Kamaldeep Saini and General Secretary Prince Sharma said that the management of the company is shifting the company from Basma to Morinda. The company management has given a written assurance to the permanent workers in the company that they will take all the workers from Basma to Morinda plant but the company management has not given any written assurance to the raw workers who are working on the machines for a long time. . On the contrary, the workers are being threatened to resign or else they will be fired. He said that 17 members of the union have also been dismissed by the company management.

The workers demanded that legal action should be taken against the company management and that the company should not be allowed to close down without the permission of the government. He demanded from the Punjab government that a high-level investigation should be conducted against the officials of the labor department and legal action should be taken against the company managers.
