Una, July 29 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal honoured Virendra Singh, a resident of Amb in Una district, who led the Indian team in the T-20 cricket series for the deaf held in England, by presenting him a cheque of Rs 51,000. On this occasion, he said that in the recently held T-20 cricket competition for the deaf in England, the Indian team has made the country proud by winning the series 5-2,
Una, July 29 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal honoured Virendra Singh, a resident of Amb in Una district, who led the Indian team in the T-20 cricket series for the deaf held in England, by presenting him a cheque of Rs 51,000. On this occasion, he said that in the recently held T-20 cricket competition for the deaf in England, the Indian team has made the country proud by winning the series 5-2, which is a matter of pride for the entire country as well as Una district. During the 15-day tour of England, the deaf Indian team played seven matches in which it won five matches and won the T-20 series. He said that Virendra Singh is an inspiration for the handicapped people. Virendra has brought glory to the country and his region by reaching this position despite adverse circumstances.
On this occasion, Virendra Singh's brother Ashish Thakur said that Virendra Singh, who studied till 12th, has a great passion for cricket since childhood. He said that Virendra Singh started playing cricket at the age of 15 and is continuously working hard in this field. He said that Virendra Singh stepped into cricket in 2005 and went to Pakistan to play deaf cricket competition from India, where he performed well and won the title of Man of the Match. Virendra Singh is playing his role in the Indian deaf team as an all-rounder. He said that Virendra Singh has played cricket in eight countries at the international level so far. Ashish Thakur has demanded from the Himachal Pradesh government that in view of the hard work of international player Virendra Singh and his contribution to the country, he should be given the opportunity of a government job.
