New Delhi, October 27 (Paigam-E-Jagat)-Reliance Jio on Friday launched India's first satellite-based gigafiber service to provide high-speed broadband services to remote areas of the country. Jio launched its new satellite-based broadband 'Jio Space Fiber' at the IIA Mobile Congress on Friday. 'Jio Space Fiber' is a satellite-based giga fiber technology that will provide connectivity in remote areas where it is not easy to provide fiber cable broadband connectivity.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd Chairman Akash Ambani briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about Jio's indigenous technology and products, including Jio Space Fiber, at the Jio Pavilion. Akash Ambani said, “Jio has brought broadband internet to millions of homes and businesses in India for the first time. With Jio Space Fiber we want to provide access to people who are currently deprived of it.
Jio currently provides high-speed broadband fixed line and wireless services to over 450 million Indian users, according to a press release issued by the company. With an aim to accelerate digital inclusion for every household in India, Jio has now added Jio Space Fiber to its broadband services Jio Fiber and Jio Air Fiber, the release said. This service will be available across the country at very affordable prices.
According to the release, “Four of the most remote locations in India have been connected through Jio Space Fiber. These include Gir National Park in Gujarat, Korba in Chhattisgarh, Nabarangpur in Odisha and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam. 5 The company's satellites will be used to provide broadband connectivity to remote areas through 'Space Fiber', now providing reliable multi-gigabit connectivity anywhere and anytime. Jio Space Fiber will use innovative and advanced 7 technology to provide satellite-based internet services in challenging areas.
