The centre of Trade Unions has issued a letter to the chief minister and the labour minister demanding the cancellation of the notification to increase the daily wage from 8 hours to 12 hours.

SAS Nagar, Oct 14: the centre of Trade Unions has sent a demand letter to Chief Minister Punjab and Labour Minister Punjab demanding that the demands of industrial workers, government and semi-government workers and scheme-based workers be accepted.  In this regard, the unions led by district president Inderjit Singh Grewal have submitted a demand letter to SDM Mohali Chandra Jyoti. 
District secretary of the Union Sajjan Singh said that the Punjab government should cancel the notification to increase the wage time from 8 hours to 12 hours and revise the minimum wage.  The letter states that the minimum wage in Punjab has not been revised since 2012, while according to principle, the minimum wage should be revised after five years or when inflation exceeds 50 points. 
The letter demanded that 44 labour laws be repealed and labour laws be restored by breaking the 4 labour laws made by the central government in the Punjab Assembly.  It has also been demanded that dues of Dearness Allowance instalments granted w. e. f. 1-3-2020 and 1-9-2020 be paid immediately and dearness allowance instalments made w. e. f. 1-3-2021, 1-9-2021 and 01-03-2022 be released. 
The letter calls for registration and renewal of labourers engaged in construction works, immediate release of family pension of dying beneficiaries, putting into accounts funds passed under various schemes in board meetings held since 2017, taking members of Punjab construction labourers Union to the board and making construction workers eligible for pension.  There is also a demand to provide a portal to the Union to run the work properly. 
It also provides for implementation of the factory act for kiln workers, fixing minimum wage for kiln workers including anganwadi workers-assistants, ASHA workers and mid-day meal workers, bringing them under the purview of minimum wage by giving them the status of workers, giving work to MGNREGA workers throughout the year and setting daily wage minimum.  700/ -, permanent workers under contract Indian / outsourced, all other scheme workers including transport workers without any discrimination and filling up the vacancies of all departments. 
He demanded that his settlement be given immediate attention and that the union be given time for an immediate meeting to discuss it.
