Due to heavy rain, cloudbursts at many places and landslides, the Uttarakhand government had closed the Sri Hemkunt Sahib Yatra, including the Char Dham Yatra, till September 5. This Yatra has resumed from September 6.
President of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust Narinderjit Singh Bindra said that the Yatra has resumed and devotees are reaching Gurudwara with full enthusiasm to pay homage. He said that even though there is a flood situation in Punjab, people are struggling with floods, but despite this, the enthusiasm in devotion towards Guru Dhams remains as before. This is a symbol of the rising art of the Sikh community. He said that despite the adverse weather, a large number of devotees are reaching Sri Hemkunt Sahib. This shows the strength of the devotees' faith in the Guru.
He said that the annual pilgrimage of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib will continue till October 10 and on October 10, the doors of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib will be closed for the devotees. He has appealed to the devotees that only one month is left for the pilgrimage, so those who want to come should plan their program during these days.
He said that the helicopter service will also start again from September 15. This service is more useful for those devotees who are unable to travel on foot or want to reach early for darshan due to lack of time. With the restoration of the helicopter service, not only the journey will be comfortable, but also maximum devotees will be able to visit this holy place.
He said that the administration and the Gurdwara Management Committee are taking all possible measures for the safety and convenience of the devotees. In addition to ensuring medical assistance and safe routes, the introduction of helicopter service also demonstrates the commitment of the management in this matter.
