Una, November 25 - The meeting of the General Development Committee of Himachal Pradesh was organized in the District Council Auditorium which was presided over by Sanjay Ratna, Chairman of the General Development Committee. The General Development Committee took details of the progress of the ongoing developmental works/activities through various departments in Una district and the income and expenditure incurred in the last three years.
In the meeting, the committee discussed in detail the various developmental schemes and works of various departments mainly Public Works, Jal Shakti, Electricity, Urban Development, HIMUDA, Town and Country Planning, Transport and Tourism departments. The chairman of the committee said that the aim of the development committee is to make the various welfare schemes run by the government reach every person. He said that officers play an important role in implementing government schemes/policies on the ground. He said that government officers and employees are the main part of the government through which the government takes its schemes to the rural level. He said that governments are dependent on their state officials/employees because governance is evaluated through them. Sanjay Ratna said that if the officers/employees of the state provide better governance to the common people then the confidence of the people in the state government increases.
He said that many programs/policies/schemes are being run by the state government through various departments for the welfare of the common people. For better implementation of the programmes/schemes, he instructed the officers to pay special attention to the quality in the developmental works being conducted by the State Government and the officers themselves should go to the field and inspect the developmental works/schemes so that there is no negligence in the works. Is possible. He said that if there is any problem in the ongoing developmental works/plans/policies in the district, then the development committee should be informed about it so that the development committee can put before the government the shortcomings in the plans/policies.
He instructed the officers that if any committee of the Assembly visits the district in future, then the officers/employees should ensure to be present in the meeting themselves to give complete details related to their departments. He said that to answer the questions whose answers were not provided by the departmental officers in the meeting, the committee directed the departmental officers to send the answers within a month.
He directed the Jal Shakti Department to increase water sources and restore old drinking water schemes. He directed that a survey of the hand pumps installed in the district should also be conducted and it should be ensured that those hand pumps which are repairable are repaired. He instructed the officials of the Public Works Department to identify black spots in the district and ensure immediate improvement work on them so that possible accidents can be reduced. The Chairman directed the officials of the Public Works Department and the block officers to jointly visit the villages of the district so that no village is deprived of road facilities. He also took detailed information about MLA priorities and road construction works under NABARD in the district. Apart from this, he instructed the officials of the Tourism Department to develop new tourist places to promote tourism in the district so that on the lines of Mata Shri Chintpurni, tourism can be promoted in other areas also.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner welcomed the Chairman and members of the General Development Committee and assured that whatever suggestions have been given by the committee will be followed in letter and spirit.
On this occasion, MLA Chintpurni Sudarshan Bablu, MLA Kutlaihar Devendra Singh Bhutto, MLA Shri Naina Devi Ji Randhir Sharma, MLA Jhanduta Assembly constituency JR Katwal, MLA Sarkaghat Assembly constituency Dalip Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma, SP Arjit Sen Thakur and officials of various departments were present.
