Nawanshahr- Teej festival was celebrated at the local Doaba Sikh National Senior Secondary School under the chairmanship of school principal Parvinder Singh Jassomjara in an atmosphere of full enthusiasm and patriotism. In this, Upkar Coordination Society under the leadership of President JS Gidda provided full support to this program.
The school students presented various types of cultural songs, group songs, choreographies, plays, Bhangra, Giddha and Miss Teej competitions. The judging panel consisting of women office bearers of Upkar Society awarded Bhawna Sharma as “Miss Teej”, Jasmine Kaur as second and Harpreet Kaur as third position.
Among the interesting items, a choreography was presented in which the young women Bhavaya Jangra, Harmeet and Manmeet, who are standing in front of the gallows in the roles of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev, are scared by Naina in the form of a demon of death, but they are not afraid. Rather, when they join their three hands in courage and raise them high, saying that they are ready to give their lives for the sake of freedom, the pandal echoes with applause, which the social workers and staff members present on the occasion found this response constructive. In the choreography of “Beti Bachao”, Gurleen, Mannat, Dolly and Jasmine made everyone emotional about the cruelty being done to innocent daughters.
