Director of Touch Clinic Mohali and Gynecologist Dr. Preeti Jindal said that the use of robotic technology for gynecological surgery offers many advantages (smaller incisions, less blood loss and faster recovery compared to conventional methods). He said that robotic surgery is performed to remove all or part of the uterus, remove tissue outside the uterus, remove one or both ovaries and gynecological cancer and all these surgeries are now available in this field.

Dr. Jindal explained that during robotic surgery, robotic instruments and a camera are inserted through small incisions, and this results in much smaller wounds than open surgery. He said that robotic technology provides better precision and dexterity to the surgeon and the biggest benefit is to the patient.

However, not all patients are suitable for this procedure and factors such as the patient's medical history, anatomy and underlying conditions play a role, he said.
