
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Una residents salute the immortal martyrs.
Una, July 26- On the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a district level program was organized at the Shaheed Smarak of MC Una. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, the chief guest, and Satpal Kalia, father of martyr Captain Amol Kalia, and Yashpal, brother of martyr Rifleman Manohar Lal, as special guests, paid tribute to the brave sons by laying a wreath at the Shaheed Smarak.

During this, Superintendent of Police Amit Yadav, Assistant Commissioner Varindra Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Manoj Kumar, Deputy Director of District Sainik Welfare Department (Retd.) Colonel S.K. Kalia, (Retd.) Colonel D.P. Vashisht, (Retd.) Colonel KB Sharma, President of Ex-Serviceman League (Retd.) Captain Shakti Chand, along with ex-servicemen and officials of various departments also paid floral tributes at the Shaheed Smarak.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that examples of bravery like the Kargil war are rare in the world. Our soldiers displayed valor and courage and achieved victory amidst severe cold and adverse conditions. The country will never forget their sacrifice. He said that the indomitable courage of the Indian Army in the Kargil war for the security of the nation is an inspiration for the coming generations.
He called upon the youth to take inspiration from the martyrs and pledge to serve the country, pay attention to physical fitness and stay away from drugs.
After the program, the Deputy Commissioner hosted the ex-servicemen for tea in the DRDA auditorium. During this, the ex-servicemen informed him about their various demands. The Deputy Commissioner listened to all their demands carefully and immediately instructed the concerned officials to fulfill them.
The Kargil war is the immortal saga of the bravery of the Indian Army-
The Kargil war lasted from 25 May 1999 to 26 July 1999. In this war, the Pakistani army was defeated badly by the Indian Army. By 25 July 1999, the Indian Army had regained control of all its posts and fronts and victory was declared with a ceasefire on 26 July. Since then, every year 26 July is celebrated as Vijay Diwas.
In this war, 52 brave sons of Himachal Pradesh made the supreme sacrifice. These included two brave soldiers of Una district, Captain Amol Kalia and Rifleman Manohar Lal. The country will always remember their indomitable courage.
Four Param Vir Chakras were awarded in the Kargil war. Out of these four, two Param Vir Chakras were awarded to the brave soldiers of the state itself, martyr Captain Vikram Batra (posthumously) and Subedar Major (then soldier) Sanjay Kumar. The entire country and the state are proud of the valor of these warriors.
