Ban on carrying arms in villages related to by-elections in view of Panchayat elections

S.A.S.Nagar, July 25: Orders have been issued to hold elections to the vacant seats of Sarpanchs and Panchs in the state of Punjab on 27.07.2025 and in order to maintain law and order during these elections, a ban on carrying arms has been imposed in the concerned villages, where by-elections have been fixed, till 28.07.2025.

S.A.S.Nagar, July 25: Orders have been issued to hold elections to the vacant seats of Sarpanchs and Panchs in the state of Punjab on 27.07.2025 and in order to maintain law and order during these elections, a ban on carrying arms has been imposed in the concerned villages, where by-elections have been fixed, till 28.07.2025.
Disclosing this information, Mrs. Komal Mittal, IAS, District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar said that in exercise of the powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code 2023, orders are issued prohibiting the carrying of arms in the concerned villages of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district (where by-elections are being held on July 27) from the date of issuance of the order till 28.07.2025. No person shall violate this till the above mentioned date.
This order will not be applicable to civil personnel, paramilitary forces and Bawardi police personnel.
For the elections to be held on July 27 in the district, polling booths have been set up for the Panchayat elections at village Dharamgarh in Mohali block, Green Enclave Daun and Roorkee Kham in Majri block.
