Kharar, July 23, 2025: In line with the Punjab Government’s recently launched ‘Punjab Road Cleanliness Mission’, SDM Kharar, Smt. Divya P, held a review meeting at the Sub-Divisional Office and conducted an on-ground inspection of the Kurali-Landran Road today.
The visit aimed to assess the status of road cleanliness and maintenance under the accountability-based governance model introduced by the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government. As part of this mission, senior officers have been assigned responsibility for maintaining specific road stretches across the state.
During the field visit, Smt. Divya P issued clear instructions to officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council to overcome challenges related to poor road conditions, unclean stretches, and delayed maintenance. Immediate action was directed for addressing potholes, improving drainage, ensuring proper signage, and implementing regular cleaning mechanisms.
The Punjab Road Cleanliness Mission, launched by Punjab Government, aims to revolutionize urban infrastructure by assigning Class-I officers, including DCs, MCs, ADCs, SDMs, and EOs, a 10-km stretch of road each. These officers are responsible for inspection, maintenance, street lighting, footpaths, signage, and cleanliness.
To enhance efficiency and transparency, the Government of Punjab is deploying real-time monitoring technologies—including mobile apps with AI-based tools, CCTV integration, GIS-based mapping via Google Maps, and WhatsApp coordination groups for swift communication. Officers will be provided with walkie-talkies for real-time ground coordination.
SDM Divya P, emphasized that the Kurali-Landran Road, being a significant corridor for daily commuters and trade, must reflect the mission’s objectives—clean, well-maintained, and efficiently managed urban roads.
DC Komal Mittal added that District administration has been instructed to conduct weekly reviews to track implementation and ensure continuous progress. The mission marks a decisive shift from desk-based administration to field-driven accountability, urging officers to be proactive custodians of public infrastructure.
