In a statement on Wednesday, an IndiGo spokesperson said that a technical snag was detected in flight 6E 6271 while taking off from Delhi's Manohar International Airport to Goa. According to the airline, the plane was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai.
"A full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E-6271 operating on the Delhi-Goa route when it was diverted to Mumbai due to an engine failure," the source said. The airline did not share any information about the number of people on board or the nature of the malfunction, although the passengers were taken to Delhi by another plane. A Mumbai airport spokesperson said the passengers were safely deplaned after the plane landed at 9:52 pm on Wednesday and were assisted by staff at the terminal.
