
Gold worth Rs 96 lakh recovered from two passengers at Amritsar airport
Amritsar- The Customs department has arrested two passengers in two separate cases at the local Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport with 960 grams of gold, the market value of which is estimated to be around Rs 96 lakh.
Amritsar- The Customs department has arrested two passengers in two separate cases at the local Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport with 960 grams of gold, the market value of which is estimated to be around Rs 96 lakh.
Customs officials said that these passengers had arrived at Amritsar airport from Kolkata via an Indigo flight. They said that when the department stopped them based on intelligence information and searched them, this gold was recovered from them during X-ray scanning.
495.54 grams of gold worth Rs 49.50 lakh was recovered from one passenger and 472.93 grams of gold worth Rs 47.24 lakh was recovered from the other passenger. Around 968.47 grams of gold, the value of which is estimated to be Rs 96,75,015, was recovered from both the passengers. The Customs Department seized the gold and further investigation into the matter is underway.
