The officials of the canal department were informed about this, but the department did not take this issue seriously in time, which is the result of which the farmers have had to bear today. The crops of a large number of farmers have been submerged in water. They said that the poor farmers are having to bear the brunt of the lack of timely cleaning of the canal and the negligence of the department staff.
SDO of the Canal Department Aryan Aneja said that although this issue was brought to his attention by some farmers, the canal was breached due to the spread of tree trunks etc. of the roadside trees. He said that they have reached the spot and at present the water flow is very fast but still the canal department staff is making every possible effort to fill the breach in the canal.
