DSP Rupinder Kaur Sohi said that complainant Aditya Nandan, a resident of Sunny Enclave, received a call from an unknown number. After that a girl came to meet him posing as a friend. After some time she called her 3 accomplices to the room. By threatening the victim, Rs 7.66 lakh was withdrawn through his bank account and credit card and the victim's laptop, mobile and essential items were also snatched.
The accused bought 3 iPhone-16 Pro Max through the victim's credit card. This fraud was done under a well-planned conspiracy. He further informed that on the directions of DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, SSP Harmandeep Hans, Mohali Cyber ??Police team took immediate action and arrested 3 accused including 1 girl. 01 accused is yet to be arrested.
He further informed that the arrested accused have been identified as Parminder Singh son Sukhdev Singh - Barnala, present resident A.K.S. Society, Zirakpur, Pooja Taneja daughter Anil Taneja - resident Karnal, Haryana and Arshdeep Kumar son Ashok Sharma - Barnala, present resident Zirakpur.
Victim's laptop, mobile phone and important documents and iPhone-16 Pro Max purchased with the cheated money have been recovered from them. Case number 29 dated 06/06/2025 has been registered against these arrested accused under sections 308(2), 127(2), 3(5), 351(2) BNS in Cyber ??Crime Police Station, SAS Nagar.
The cyber wing of the district police has appealed to the citizens that even the offers on social media that seem credible can be a big lie, so think carefully and be cautious before making any transaction with any unknown person.
