Hoshiarpur- Under the de-addiction campaign being run by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the trumpet of awareness has also been sounded in Hoshiarpur assembly constituency. Under the same series, de-addiction programs were organized in ward numbers 49, 46, 23, 14, 16 and 8 today under the leadership of MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa.
The objective of these programs is to spread public awareness against drug abuse, to make the society aware of the harm caused by it and to keep the youth away from the clutches of drug abuse. The presence and active participation of the ward residents clearly showed that the city residents are united against drug abuse.
MLA Jimpa administered a collective oath to the citizens present on this occasion not to consume drugs under any circumstances, not to boycott drug dealers and not to help such anti-social elements. He said in clear words that we will not allow drug dealers to flourish in our area. If anyone sells drugs or supports them, we will not even give him bail.
He said that drugs are weakening the roots of Punjab and it is our collective responsibility to stop it. He said that the government is taking strict steps against drugs, but unless the common people support it, this fight cannot be won completely.
