
The meeting of Powercom and Transco Contract Employees Union with the management and the Finance Minister was inconclusive.
Mahilpur- A large number of Powercom and Transco Contract Employees Union Punjab are continuing their protest in front of the Finance Minister's residence. Mahilpur Division Jogi Agnihotri, while informing the press, said that the power department has been on the path of struggle for a long time for privatization of the power department and regularization of outsourced employees brought into the departments, fixing wages as per the minimum wage law, creating posts as per the workload, repealing anti-communal labor laws and restoration of the old pension scheme and other demands.

The Punjab government is continuously adopting a policy of delay. The Finance Minister held continuous meetings but no solution was found. Many workers died due to electrocution while restoring power supply. He said that if the government does not resolve the demands of the workers, the contract workers will be forced to wage a fierce struggle. During the struggle by the Powercom management, a meeting was held with the Finance Minister and the Power Minister in Chandigarh.
The leaders of the organization remained helpless, which included implementing the minimum living wage of CHB workers working directly in the department and facing death due to electrocution. Demands were made to guarantee permanent job pension to the heirs of PAI and to cancel the privatization policy, but no concrete solution could be found. The leaders demanded that the issues of the workers be resolved in the upcoming meeting.
The organization decided to continue the struggle in the Finance Minister's office that the struggle will continue until the demands are resolved. The workers' protest in the grain market continued for the third day and the workers staged protests in the city. It was decided to continue and decided to call a big gathering with families and children on 26 May 2025.
