Operation Seal; Mohali Police seizes truck loaded with 550 cartons of illegal liquor from two Rajasthani men.

Derabassi/SAS Nagar, May 18: Under the statewide Drug Free Punjab campaign launched by Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Shri Gaurav Yadav to eliminate the menace of drugs/fake liquor from the state, District SAS Nagar Police on the directions of DIG Ropar Range S. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, conducted a special search operation under ‘Operation Seal’ by setting up special check posts/blockades at various places on the inter-state borders in the district.

Harcharan Singh Bhullar, conducted a special search operation under ‘Operation Seal’ by setting up special check posts/blockades at various places on the inter-state borders in the district.
Giving this information on Sunday, SSP SAS Nagar Sardar Harmandeep Singh Hans said that during this operation, a team of Sub-Division Derabassi stopped a truck at the inter-state checkpoint set up at Nagla T-Point in Handesra and arrested two persons, from whom 550 boxes of "English liquor" were recovered, which were labeled for sale only in Chandigarh.
Giving further information, SSP Hans said that the two arrested persons have been identified as Deda Ram son of Kumbha Ram, resident of Bhunia, Tehsil Sedwa, District Barmer, Rajasthan and Bhupa Ram son of Juja Ram, resident of Guda Malani, Tehsil Gudda, District Barmer, Rajasthan.
He further said that strict instructions have been issued to all the police teams deployed at the inter-state checkpoints so that activities like smuggling of drugs and illegal liquor can be stopped. He said that while acting on these instructions, the police teams performed their duty diligently, which led to the recovery of illegal liquor on a large scale.
He informed that FIR No. 23, dated 18-05-2025, has been registered at Police Station Handesra, Derabassi under Section 61 of the Excise Act in this regard.
He said that further investigation is underway based on forward and backward linkages to ascertain the involvement of other accused in this illegal liquor supply chain.
SSP Hans reiterated the commitment of Mohali Police to continue strict action against smugglers and criminals in the district.
