
22 Punjabis win in Canada federal elections.
Bathinda, April 29 – A record 22 Punjabis have been elected to the House of Commons in the recent federal elections in Canada. Earlier, 18 Punjabis won in 2021, while 20 Punjabis were elected in the 2019 elections.

During this, Punjabis from different parties have won five seats in Brampton. Ruby Sahota of the Liberal Party has defeated Conservative Amandeep Judge from Brampton North. Liberal candidate Maninder Sidhu has defeated Conservative candidate Bob Dosanjh from Brampton East. Apart from this, Liberal candidate Amandeep Sohi has defeated Taran Chahal from Brampton Centre. Meanwhile, two Conservative candidates have won here, with Conservative candidate Sukhdeep Kang defeating Liberal candidate Sonia Sidhu from Brampton South and Amarjit Gill defeating incumbent minister Kamal Khera from Brampton West.
However, in a major political development, NDP President and two-time incumbent MP Jagmeet Singh lost badly in his Burnaby Central riding and finished in third place. He also resigned as NDP President after his defeat. In addition, Health Minister and two-time MP Kamal Khera lost to Amarjit Gill in the Brampton West riding.
