Wife of policeman martyred in 26/11 terror attack appointed DSP.
Mumbai- The Maharashtra government on Tuesday appointed Kalpana Pawar, widow of police constable Ambadas Pawar, who was martyred in the 26/11 terror attacks, as probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued this order regarding Kalpana's direct appointment.
Mumbai- The Maharashtra government on Tuesday appointed Kalpana Pawar, widow of police constable Ambadas Pawar, who was martyred in the 26/11 terror attacks, as probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued this order regarding Kalpana's direct appointment.
Kalpana Pawar thanked the Chief Minister and said that he has tried to provide justice to the common citizen. She said, "Like my husband, I also got an opportunity to serve the people. My appointment proves that this government belongs to farmers, workers, women and those who sacrificed their lives for the country."
Martyr Ambadas Pawar was awarded the Police Medal for Bravery. There was a terrorist attack in Mumbai on 26 November 2008, in which terrorists targeted many places in the city and during this attack, Pawar was on night duty and was going to the office of the security unit in plain clothes. Pawar did not have any weapon. At Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, he saw that a Government Railway Police (GRP) officer was seriously injured in the firing by the terrorists. After this, Pawar took the rifle from him and fired at the terrorists but Pawar lost his life in this attack. A total of 166 people were killed in the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
