Chandigarh- (Councillor and Aam Aadmi Party's Women's Wing President Prem Lata questions Mayor's working style) Mayor Harpreet Babla is having regular meetings with Chandigarh Administrator these days and her photo shoots are being published in newspapers. Sometimes at Raj Bhawan in tea party with her husband and other BJP leaders or sometimes at some other public function. The councillor asked that while sipping tea, did she remember the financial condition of the corporation or did she think of paying salaries to Chandigarh employees? On one hand, the people of Chandigarh are unhappy with the new and heavy tax and thousands of employees are not getting their salaries on time, on the other hand, the Mayor is busy in her photo shoot everyday. I want to remind the Mayor that when she used to tell former Mayor Kuldeep that during her tenure, she did not arrange official tour of Goa for the councillors and neither did she give any gifts on Teej. Now the Mayor is not going to give gifts on Teej, by not paying salaries to the common people, even the food from their plate is being snatched away.
Just a few days ago, the BJP President and Mayor had dropped the statement that if the property tax hike is withdrawn and the corporation does not get financial grant, then she will resign along with all the councilors of her party. It is clear from this that she has considered herself a flop mayor and I am fully hopeful that in the upcoming house meeting on 30th, she will submit her resignation and hand over her charge to the Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. If all this had not happened, then bring the same lock to this house meeting which her husband had brought when he was in Congress.
After meeting the Home Minister, the Mayor had also said that the Home Minister had asked her to give financial grant to the corporation soon, but now after a month has passed, not only was the grant not going to be given, but on the contrary, the burden of new taxes has been put on the people of Chandigarh.
