Instructions to include maximum number of cases in National Lok Adalat.

Hoshiarpur- The district level quarterly meeting of District Legal Services Authority was held under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Dilbag Singh Johal. During the meeting, District and Sessions Judge Dilbag Singh Johal directed to bring as many pre-litigation cases to the court with the aim of making the upcoming National Lok Adalat (May 10, 2025) a success.

During the meeting, District and Sessions Judge Dilbag Singh Johal directed to bring as many pre-litigation cases to the court with the aim of making the upcoming National Lok Adalat (May 10, 2025) a success.
He said that through Lok Adalats, speedy settlement of pending cases is possible by mutual consent, which saves both time and money of the public. In the meeting, a comprehensive publicity plan was discussed to disseminate information about various welfare schemes being run by NALSA to the general public so that more and more people can take advantage of these schemes.
The District and Sessions Judge informed that during the last quarter, free legal aid was provided to 401 persons and legal advice was given to 196 persons. Similarly, an award of Rs 29 lakh was approved under the Victim Compensation Scheme. He informed that 20,025 cases were presented in the National Lok Adalat organized in March 2025, out of which 17,294 cases were settled on the spot and awards worth Rs 7.33 crore were passed.
Dilbag Singh Johal also gave instructions to organize seminars on NALSA schemes in various villages of the district, spread public awareness and make people aware about the benefits of Permanent Lok Adalat and Mediation Centers. Deputy Commissioner, Additional Sessions Judge, SSP, CJM Rajpal Rawal, District Attorney, Public Relations Officer, President of District Bar Association and other nominated members were present in this meeting.
