Mahilpur, February 24- Today, on the call of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Association, the PCCTU unit of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur staged two protests against the Punjab government for not sending special grant money in this regard despite the implementation of the seventh pay scale for teachers and for other demands.
On this occasion, the college principal Dr. Parvinder Singh specially participated in the protest. During the protest, PCCTU President Prof. Jaswinder Singh said that there is a lot of anger in the minds of college teachers due to the anti-student and anti-teacher higher education policies of the Punjab government.
He said that the government has taken all the steps to implement the seventh pay commission, but despite this, teachers are not being paid salaries according to the increased pay scale. He said that Punjab is the only state in the entire country where there is no increase in the salary of college teachers despite the implementation of the seventh pay scale.
On this occasion, the unit secretary Dr. Rakesh Kumar, staff secretary Prof. Dev Kumar and other teachers present raised slogans against the Punjab government and warned that if the government continues to show such dictatorial behavior regarding the release of grant money related to the seventh pay commission and other legitimate demands of the teachers, then a fierce struggle will be launched.
