Hoshiarpur, April 14: Punjab Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, on his 134th birth anniversary and appealed to the students to read the biography of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, which will serve as a source of inspiration for them to achieve their desired goals.
Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar Chowk near the local bus stand. After paying tribute to the statue of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Punjab Government celebrated the 134th Ambedkar Day in the Government College. Addressing the district level function dedicated to Ambedkar Jayanti, Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that along with the creation of the Constitution, Baba Saheb provided excellent leadership in every field for the progress and development of the country, which is cited as an example in every corner of the world.
He said that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was not only Bharat Ratna but also Vishwa Ratna personality, who is known all over the world as a great social reformer, savior of women, successful lawyer, eminent politician, great teacher and philosopher. He said that along with giving the right of equality, freedom and brotherhood to every citizen of the country, he also made provision of fundamental rights for the countrymen in the Constitution, due to which the gap of discrimination started ending. He said that apart from protecting the rights, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar brought Reserve Bank of India, Finance Commission, Employment Office and many other projects in the country, which played a major role in the development of the country.
Calling to write a paragraph on the education concept of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that there is no alternative to education and by getting higher education, the youth can easily achieve their desired goals. He described the work being done by the Punjab Government in the fields of education, health, employment and others as an important step towards fulfilling the dreams of Baba Saheb.
Lok Sabha member Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal in his address after paying tribute said that Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar stressed the importance of education and encouraged everyone to acquire education. He said that Dr became the first Law Minister of the country. Bhimrao Ambedkar's initiatives in various fields will always remain a source of inspiration for students, bureaucrats and politicians.
He said that Dr Ambedkar was a great nationalist who said that we are Indians from beginning to end. He said that Dr Ambedkar gave the message of equality, freedom and brotherhood to the society and ensured equal rights for all. He said that Baba Saheb provided equal rights to women by making provisions in the Constitution and it is because of Dr Ambedkar's vision that today women are touching heights in every field.
Discussing the efforts being made by the Punjab Government to realize the dreams of Dr Ambedkar, Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, unprecedented work has been done in the field of education, health and employment in the state. He said that the pictures of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh and Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar always give the message of patriotism and rights. He said that providing education to every youth of Punjab and eliminating the evil of drug addiction would be the true tribute to Baba Saheb.
MLA from Chabbewal Assembly Constituency Dr Ishank Kumar in his address said that to make Baba Saheb's dream come true, we should pledge to work together to bring equality in the society and ensure that no one is left behind. He urged the students to work hard and imbibe the ideals of Baba Saheb and achieve success in life with honesty, dedication and devotion.
Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh, Lok Sabha Member Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal and MLA Dr Ishank Kumar handed over congratulatory letters to the students under BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. They also distributed certificates to the beneficiaries under Ashirwad Scheme. They also released a booklet giving detailed information about the schemes of the Welfare Department.
