
PEC Pays Tribute to the Architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
Chandigarh: 14th April, 2025: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) , Chandigarh, today celebrated the 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, a visionary leader, social reformer, economist, and jurist who dedicated his life towards the fight against social discrimination and the upliftment of the marginalized communities.

The Program commenced with floral tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by the Esteemed Director Prof. Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Registrar Col. R.M. Joshi, Prof. Balwinder Singh Chairperson SC/ST cell and the faculty members expressing their gratitude and deep respect for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s invaluable contributions to social justice and equality.This was followed by felicitation of the esteemed dignitaries.
A short but insightful documentary, highlighting the life and achievements of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was presented followed by an address by Prof. Balwinder Singh, where he gave insights on the workings of the cell and the various initiatives undertaken to support students and staff from marginalized communities.
Further, Dr.Lokesh mentioned the life and principles of Dr. B.R Ambedkar inspiring everyone to inculcate them into their daily lives and Dr. Sukhwinder Singh emphasized on how education played a crucial role in Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s life and reiterated his slogan of "Be Educated, Be Organized and Be Agitated". Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh also gave an insightful address pointing out that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a leader of not only the marginalized groups but for all those who believe in an inclusive and progressive society.
The Esteemed Director Prof. Bhatia in his address emphasized the institute's commitment to inclusivity and creating an environment of collective growth inspired by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s principles. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony, felicitating winners across age groups in competitions ranging from drawing to essay writing.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Shobhna Dhiman (Associate Professor, Physics Department) expressing her sincere gratitude to all the dignitaries, speakers, faculty members, staff, and students.
