
Thar going to a wedding ceremony fell into a 250 feet deep gorge; 5 members of the same family died.
Devprayag: A tragic accident has taken place in Tehri where the vehicle of a family going to attend a wedding ceremony from Faridabad to Gauchar in Chamoli met with an accident. There were six people of the same family in the vehicle, out of whom five died. After the accident, the vehicle was pulled out of the river with the help of a crane from which five bodies were recovered. One woman was rescued in the accident. The cause of the accident is being said to be high speed.

This family is originally from Chamoli district, but currently lives in Faridabad (Haryana). They were coming to attend a mehndi program for a relative. All were riding in the Thar. The accident took place near Bagwan, about 15 km from Devprayag towards Srinagar on the Badrinath Highway.
Car engulfed in Alaknanda after overturning in a gorge
After the Thar overturned in a gorge about 250 meters deep, the vehicle engulfed in the Alaknanda river. A woman in the car was rescued. She has been admitted to the Srinagar Base Hospital. The bodies of five people, including three children, have also been recovered.
The people on board the Thar include two women and four men. Out of these, the woman Anita Negi was rescued, while her son Aditya, younger sister Meena Gusai, husband Sunil Gusai and two children have died.
According to the information, the woman had left from Roorkee's residence at around 3 am. Anita Negi has two children, while her husband is in the army. Anita had left with her sister's family to attend a wedding ceremony with her elder son. Their younger daughter is in Roorkee.
