Agriculture Department organised District Level Farmers Training Camp.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 9: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department SAS Nagar today organised District Level Farmers Training Camp and Exhibition at Kisan Vikas Chamber (Calcutta Bhawan), Mohali to provide technical information to farmers about Kharif crops under ATMA Scheme.

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 9: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department SAS Nagar today organised District Level Farmers Training Camp and Exhibition at Kisan Vikas Chamber (Calcutta Bhawan), Mohali to provide technical information to farmers about Kharif crops under ATMA Scheme.
Organised under the directions of Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar Mrs. Komal Mittal, Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mrs. Sonam Chaudhary specially participated in the camp and inaugurated the camp. Dr. Gurmel Singh Chief Agriculture Officer SAS Nagar informed the farmers about Kharif crops, proper management of stubble, proper use of natural resources, water and saving the environment.
Joint Director Agriculture (Data) Mrs. Harpreet Kaur, who was attending the camp as a special guest on this occasion, said that there is a great need to protect the health of soil, water and environment of Punjab and the government is making all efforts for this. The farmer leaders who attended the camp thanked the Punjab Government for the uninterrupted supply of electricity and appreciated the campaign launched against drug abuse and appealed to the farmers to cooperate with the government so that the state of Punjab can be made drug free.
Deputy Director Fisheries Dr. Gurjeet Singh gave information about fish farming business, Agriculture Officer Kharar Dr. Shubkaran Singh about prevention of pests and diseases affecting paddy crop, Dr. Raminder Singh Ghuman and Dr. Navneet Kaur Dhaliwal gave information about Kharif crops and new varieties of University.
Soil Conservation Officer Dr. Anil Kumar Bana gave information about drip and irrigation and subsidy and Deputy Project Director (ATMA) Mrs. Shikha Singla gave information about various activities under ATMA Scheme. Farmer leader Mr. Mehar Singh Theri appealed to the government to solve various problems being faced by the farmers.
Mr. Balwant Singh Nadiali submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar through Joint Director Agriculture (Data) regarding the problems of the farmers. In this camp, the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Soil Conservation, Punjab Agricultural University also demonstrated the activities related to their departments.
Pneumatic planters used by progressive farmers of the district for sowing maize, balers for making bundles of straw and superseeder machines used for proper management of straw were also demonstrated. Progressive farmers including farmer women from different villages of the district participated enthusiastically in this camp.
