Special general sessions of Gram Sabhas begin in 466 villages of the district

Nawanshahr- On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab has started two-day special general sessions of Gram Sabhas in 466 villages of 5 blocks (Nawanshahr, Balachaur, Banga, Aor and Saroya) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district from today.

Nawanshahr- On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab has started two-day special general sessions of Gram Sabhas in 466 villages of 5 blocks (Nawanshahr, Balachaur, Banga, Aor and Saroya) of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district from today.
Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that as per the instructions of the Punjab Government, in these general meetings being held on March 29 and 30, for the multifaceted development of villages, construction of playgrounds in villages, construction of parks, renovation of ponds, solid waste management projects, projects related to wastewater disposal, construction of buildings and shops in villages, construction of common toilets, construction of libraries, construction of panchayat houses, construction of Anganwadi centers and plantation works are being identified, so that these works can be started from April 1, 2025.
Giving more information in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur said that in these general meetings, the work to be done by the Gram Panchayats during the coming financial year is being made known. She said that all the officers and employees of the Rural Development and Panchayat Department have been deployed to successfully conduct these general meetings. Apart from this, officers and employees of other departments related to the villages are also providing information about the ongoing schemes of the departments.
