Several steps are being taken by the Punjab government to save the people of the state from hassle and to curb the corruption spread in the tehsils. Under this, the Punjab government is now going to start a pilot project called 'Cyber ??Tehsil', which can prove to be a big step towards the digital revolution in the state. Currently, the government is thinking of starting it from Jagraon tehsil of Ludhiana, which will be implemented in the entire Punjab in the coming time.
According to departmental sources, the 'Cyber ??Tehsil' starting from Jagraon will be a digital version of the Tehsil office itself. In which the public will get the facility to get all other works related to the Revenue Department including land registry online. People will be able to take advantage of facilities like digital mutation of land records, online payment of rent and land registry, virtual hearing of land disputes etc. sitting at home. Along with this, it will also become easy to update the land records at the same time.
However, before starting this project, all the records in the Tehsil will have to be made online, which may take a lot of time. According to sources, this project is expected to start by the end of this year. However, the department is trying to start this project as soon as possible. Along with this, the employees of the Sewa Kendras are also being trained in the work of the Tehsils, so that the work of the Tehsils can also be started in the Sewa Kendras.
