Una, March 26 - Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal on Thursday inaugurated ten projects worth about Rs 50 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana 2 in various panchayats of development block Bangana. These projects include rain water harvesting tank, check dam at Ghugan Kakraana of Gram Panchayat Thanakalan, check dam at Babri, Dobar and Majhed in ward no. 4, Gram Panchayat Khariyalata, check dam at villages Badoa, Chamboa, Khairian and Dehar of Gram Panchayat Dehar. All these projects have been built under the water shed development component 'Yatra'.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that water conservation and environmental protection is one of the most important needs of today's time. Water is the basis of life and if it is not used judiciously, then water crisis may deepen in future. He said that collective efforts are necessary to deal with challenges like indiscriminate consumption of natural resources, pollution of water sources and climate change. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all citizens to play an active role in water and environmental conservation. He said that to overcome the water crisis, it is very important to adopt techniques like water recycling, drip irrigation in agriculture and to prevent plastic pollution. There is a need to take a collective resolution for water and environmental conservation so that the coming generations can get clean and safe natural resources.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, special attention is being given to water conservation and management, so that the problem of water crisis can be reduced. Check dams have been constructed to promote water conservation, which will lead to rainwater harvesting and farmers will get adequate water for irrigation. He directed the concerned officials to ensure smooth implementation of all the schemes so that people can get their benefits. During this, the Deputy Commissioner also planted a sapling and urged the people to plant as many trees as possible and protect them for environmental protection.
BDO Una KL Verma, BDO Bangana Sushil Kumar, DPO Shravan Kumar, Principal Sanjeev Parashar, Principal School Talmeda Jeevan Modgil, President of Sada Shiv Mandir Committee Praveen Sharma along with Panchayat representatives of the concerned Panchayats and local people were present in the program.
