Nawanshahr, March 26- While the Punjab government has started running a large-scale yellow paw in the state to end the evil of drug addiction in the last few days, the large-scale illegal mining in Nawanshahr tehsil of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district has tarnished the image of the government on a large scale.
Of course, the Punjab government had claimed on coming to power that illegal mining would be stopped at all costs, but that claim of the government has remained unfulfilled and illegal mining thieves are mining with full force. According to the information received, illegal mining was going on through trolleys at night in village Shamshpur for many days. When no one stopped it, a close relative of the mining thief resident of Shamshpur started this illegal business in village Talwandi Seebu for a few days, which is continuing as usual. At present, the common people are being looted indiscriminately by selling a trolley of sand at the rate of Rs. 100 per kg for Rs. 5,000.
Not only this, but in village Ratanana, whose land is across the water flow of Satluj river, which falls in Nawanshahr constituency and to go there one has to pass through the villages of Ludhiana district, which is right in front of the road connecting Hadiwal village to the dam, illegal mining has been started on a large scale for the last 4 days, where according to reliable sources, 70 tippers and 25 trolleys of sand were taken out at night on the first day, when no employee of the mining department or police department came to help them, their courage increased even more.
For the last three days, mining thieves have been taking out 140 tippers and more than 70 trolleys of sand from the Satluj river. It has also been revealed that for the last three days, a tractor with a rotor which is filling water in trolleys and tippers, a JCB machine and 2 poplin machines are working at night and as soon as it is morning, all these machines are taken out of the river. Sources also told that the price of a tipper is being told to be Rs 16,000 and the price of a trolley is Rs 5,000.
Sources also told that some people of Ratanana, Hadiwal, Koomkalan and Baliewal are doing ghee work on this land of Ratanana. Regarding this matter, leaders associated with farmers' organizations Surinder Singh Bains, Tarsem Singh Bains, Bhupinder Singh Waraich, Surinder Singh and Paramjit Singh Sahabpur said that it is the responsibility of the government to first provide cheap sand to the common people and catch those mining thieves who are robbing people with closed eyes.
He said that it is the responsibility of the mining department as well as the district police to crack down on mining thieves. When Rahon police station chief Inspector Nand Lal was talked to about this, he said that this matter is not in my attention and he will increase patrolling from tonight, but the mining department has a big responsibility in this, they work with the department for security. When an attempt was made to talk to JE Karan Panjoli of the mining department in this regard, he did not pick up the phone.
Regarding this matter, Aam Aadmi Party's constituency in-charge Lalit Mohan Pathak Ballu and Nagar Sudhar Trust Nawanshahr chairman Satnam Singh Jalwaha said that their government is and will remain strict against those doing illegal work. They strictly warned that people doing illegal mining should not do this work in Nawanshahr constituency, otherwise they will take strict action against mining thieves.
